Access monitoring badges

The first badges with a magnetic stripe date back to the 1960s. They were swiped through a reader, allowing the holder to be recognised and granted access to the area or building.

Unfortunately, over time this technology proved particularly disadvantageous due to high wear, ease of cloning and poor security.

To overcome these drawbacks, the proximity readers we know today were developed, allowing contactless recognition.

These readers emit a magnetic field; when a badge enters it, the information is read and the user is granted or denied access.
